This painting was made during the 2023 PleinAirTexas festival in San Angelo, TX. Along with the 11 handmade canvases + custom frames that I shipped to Texas, I also flew with a box of 5" x 7" linen panels that I made. These were great for quick sessions during the week. I wanted to make at least one nocturne city painting and since my hosts' ranch was 25 minutes from the city I didn't want to have a large surface to work on. A small panel worked out perfectly for a nocturne painting. This was made as the title suggests on a main st called Chadbourne that runs through the city of San Angelo. I liked the ominous night sky at dusk with a subtle phthalo blue glow at the horizon against the warm tones of the building surrounding glowing orbs from the street lights. Even though the painting was made in San Angelo it has a universal quality about it that I really like. This painting inspired me to make a second nocturne that was sold during the exhibition.
This painting is currently unvarnished (will be suitable for varnish if desired after April 2024). Will ship wrapped in plastic in a cardboard box. Paintings are available for local pickup at no additional cost. All orders of $100 or more are eligible for free shipping in the US. Paintings ship only after the full payment has been received - this includes monthly payment plans.
