This August, Megan and I will be taking a backpacking trip with five of our Michigan friends to Iceland! One of our friends, Emily, invited us to join her for a multiday backpacking trip along the Laugavegur Trail which is regarded as one of the most beautiful trails in the world!
During this shop update you can preorder an original 4” x 6” or 6" x 6" plein air painting that will be made on location during our backpacking trip. I've never done a presale for plein air paintings before this so I'm hoping you can see my vision. I plan to create at least four small paintings on location during our hike in Iceland this August. If I’m lucky, I’ll be coming home with a few more than four that can be worthy of loving homes. 🤞🏽
I can’t predict what these paintings will look like any better than I can predict what kind of weather we’re expected to face. Based on articles, photos, and videos from people who have hiked this trail it looks like high winds, rain, and clouds are to be expected. Hopefully the setup and materials I bring will be compatible with these conditions. I'll be testing out a few different setups this spring and summer. If you're a painter with advice on battling wind please let me know any tips or tricks you're willing to share. I'm only offering four spots to reserve one of these paintings for now, but if I make more than four plein air paintings I'll list the extras once we return from the trip and after presale collectors choose their paintings. FYI presale paintings will be chosen based on the order that these spots are purchased/reserved.
Artwork Details:
4” x 6” (dimensions of the painting) $275 (presale price is $250)
6" x 6” (dimensions of the painting) $385 (presale price is $360)
Paint Medium TBD (Oil, Casein, or Gouache on Handmade Linen, Canvas, or Paper Panels. I'll be packing something lightweight and thin enough to store in my backpack but can be mounted to birch plywood panels when I return)
Paintings will be Unvarnished if Oil is used, Varnished if Casein or Gouache is used.
Timeline + Pre-Sale Terms: Once I return back to the US, the presale collectors will be contacted via email or phone to choose their paintings in the order they purchased/reserved these four listings. Paintings will be chosen in the order that they were purchased (first presale collector gets to have first dibs from all of the paintings). Please make sure to check your inbox during this time. If a collector doesn’t respond within 48 hrs of being first contacted I will move to the next collector in line. If I return home with more than 4 paintings, then I will wait to publish any of these remaining paintings until after all of the pre-sale paintings have been chosen. If a collector is interested in another painting after choosing their pre-sale painting, they can choose one once all remaining paintings are published live to the public in my online shop.
Paintings will be shipped in late August (around the 25th at the earliest - depending on communication between presale collectors) wrapped in plastic with a signed Certificate of Authenticity in a cardboard box.
