Fiesta
Gouache on Riverpoint Paper
4" x 5"
2019
Framed in a white store bought frame with glass. There is a very small crack in the side of the frame where the hanging hardware was installed.
Fiesta is an original gouache painting that I made from imagination directly on the paper with paint. The painting is a self portrait of sorts that was created while I was in graduate school at Michigan State University. I first exhibited this painting in a pop up mixed media exhibition called Hector Acuna, Hector Acuña at Kresge Art Center in Room 8 in the spring of 2019. The work in the exhibition explored themes of identity, mexican-american stereotypes, and surreal representations of the body. I exhibited the painting during a solo exhibition at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts in Saugatuck, MI in the winter of 2020. The last exhibition this painting was included in was a small works juried exhibition at Rountree Gallery in Plattville, WI in 2021.
This painting ships ready-to-hang plastic wrapped in a cardboard box with a signed certificate of authenticity. A few All Eyes stickers, based on the portrait in this painting, are included for free!
