This painting was made during the 2023 PleinAirTexas festival in San Angelo, TX. I visited an auto junkyard twice during the week on the northeast side of the city. I was drawn to the repeating shapes from cars, vans, and trucks. Some of the rusty vehicles looked to be from the 20's and 30's. This retro van was parked parallel to the fence where I painted it. I decided to explore large empty space to highlight the focal area of the van. This simplification of detail and form became a theme for my process at the event during the week. 
 
This painting is currently unvarnished (will be suitable for varnish if desired after April 2024). Will ship wrapped in plastic in a cardboard box.
